Thank you for your kind thoughts my friends. Though I haven't posted for some time, I come to dA almost every day. I'm still here with you all.

I can't write much just now concerning the tragedy in Nepal. My sorrow is deep and I'm doing all I can to help here, - as are so many people.

If you wish to know more about the situation on the ground here, I'm making posts daily on my Facebook page : www.facebook.com/profile.php?i…

The people of Nepal need assistance in any way you can give. There are so many people with urgent needs. The U.N. now estimates that over 8 million people are in need of aid. It's cold and wet here. People are homeless, injured, traumatised and grieving. They are cold, hungry, thirsty, in need of safe drinking water, often without toilet facilities or ways to stay clean. The threat of infectious diseases is high. People are on the ground, in the open, many with no blankets or shelter at all. There are children and pregnant woman and the elderly. It's heartbreaking to witness.

Nepali people are doing all they can to help save lives and they've done much in these first days. But the devastation covers an enormous area of mountainous Himalayan terrain and hundreds of thousands of people have had no assistance since the first earthquake last Saturday. They need help urgently.

I share posts on Facebook that are calls for urgently needed help, so that wherever you are you may see a way to help some of those who are in desperate need now.

Something I would like to share with you ...

♡  A Little Known Robin Williams Story:

“Years ago I learned a very cool thing about Robin Williams, and I couldn’t watch a movie of his afterward without thinking of it. I never actually booked Robin Williams for an event, but I came close enough that his office sent over his rider.

For those outside of the entertainment industry, a rider lists out an artist’s specific personal and technical needs for hosting them for an event- anything from bottled water and their green room to sound and lighting requirements. You can learn a lot about a person from their rider. This is where rock bands list their requirement for green M&Ms (which is actually a surprisingly smart thing to do).

This is also where a famous environmentalist requires a large gas-guzzling private jet to fly to the event city, but then requires an electric or hybrid car to take said environmentalist to the event venue when in view of the public.

When I got Robin Williams’ rider, I was very surprised by what I found. He actually had a requirement that for every single event or film he did, the company hiring him also had to hire a certain number of homeless people and put them to work.

I never watched a Robin Williams movie the same way after that. I’m sure that on his own time and with his own money, he was working with these people in need, but he’d also decided to use his clout as an entertainer to make sure that production companies and event planners also learned the value of giving people a chance to work their way back.

I wonder how many production companies continued the practice into their next non-Robin Williams project, as well as how many people got a chance at a job and the pride of earning an income, even temporarily, from his actions.

He was a great multiplier of his impact. Let’s hope that impact lives on without him. Thanks, Robin Williams- not just for laughs, but also for a cool example.”

Hello again,

In Kathmandu , at present, there are thirteen hours per day of electrical load shedding, power cuts . The times vary from day to day. This creates difficulties for most people living here. For me, as I work freelance with my computer, it means being governed by the times the power is on, working at odd hours night and day . Many people are having to work like this.... I just mention it now because often I cannot reply  to messages for some time and as  I'm quite restricted with computer time right now, I'd like to say thank you for all your "thank you"s and welcoming greetings and  to all who have welcomed me with the little Llamas ... it's kind of you.

During this first week I've been looking at all the wonderful work to be found at DA  and I'm simply in awe of what you are creating .

Power cuts permitting, some time soon I may be able to submit my first deviation, in the meantime, whenever I can, I just wish to enjoy all your amazing creativity.

'Bye for now,
Lindel.
